Modern A-Line Sequin Wedding Dress by Myline's Bridal in Greensboro, NC

Your Dream Dress Doesn’t Exist Yet – Let’s Create It Together

Have you been scrolling through hundreds of wedding dresses, thinking “I love this neckline, but wish it had those sleeves” or “This is beautiful, but it’s just not… me”?

I hear this all the time. And here’s what I tell every bride who walks through my door: you don’t have to settle.

I’m Myline, and for over 20 years, I’ve been designing and creating custom wedding gowns right here in Greensboro. Not just altering existing dresses – I mean truly custom, made from scratch, designed specifically for YOU.

Your wedding dress should make you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself. Not like you’re wearing someone else’s vision. Let’s create something that’s completely, authentically yours.

How the Custom Wedding Dress Process Works

I know “custom” can sound intimidating. Let me walk you through exactly what happens, step by step

    The Initial Consultation

    (FREE – About 1 Hour)

This is where we get to know each other and your vision.

    Come with:

    • Pinterest boards, magazine clippings, screenshots – anything that inspires you
    • Photos of dresses you love (and hate) – helps me understand your style
    • Your venue details and wedding vibe – beach? ballroom? rustic barn?
    • Your honest budget – I’ll work with what you have

    We’ll talk about:

    • What you love about your body and what you want to highlight
    • Fabrics and textures that appeal to you
    • Your comfort level (sleeves vs. strapless, tight vs. flowing)
    • Timeline and budget
    • Any special elements (like incorporating family heirloom lace)

You’ll leave with: A clear understanding of what’s possible, a rough price estimate, and initial ideas for your design.

    Design & Fabric Selection

    (1-2 Weeks Later)

I’ll create sketches based on our consultation. We’ll look at:

    We’ll look at:

    • Different design options – I usually present 2-3 variations
    • Fabric samples – silk, satin, chiffon, lace, tulle (you can touch and feel everything)
    • Embellishment options – beading, appliqués, buttons, trim
    • Color options – there are dozens of shades of “white”!

This is collaborative. I’m the expert on what will work technically and what will flatter your body, but you’re the expert on what feels like YOU. We’ll refine until it’s perfect.

You’ll leave with: A finalized design, fabric selections, and a signed agreement with pricing and timeline.

Investment required: 50% deposit to order materials and begin work

    First Fitting – The Mock-Up

    (About 6-8 Weeks Later)

This is SO exciting! I’ll have created a muslin mock-up (a practice version) of your dress.

    This lets us:

    • See the design in three dimensions on YOUR body
    • Check proportions and fit
    • Make any changes to the design before cutting the real fabric
    • Adjust anything that doesn’t feel right

Why we do this: Cutting expensive bridal fabric is permanent. The mock-up lets us perfect everything first.

You’ll leave with: Confidence that the design is exactly right and excitement about what’s coming!

Second Fitting – Your Actual Gown Takes Shape

    (About 3-4 Weeks Later)

Now we’re working with your real dress! The main construction is done, and you’ll see your vision coming to life in the actual fabrics you chose.

    We’ll:

    • Check the fit of the bodice and skirt
    • Pin any adjustments needed
    • Discuss final details like hem length and bustle placement
    • Add any remaining embellishments

You’ll leave with: Probably some happy tears because it’s becoming REAL!

Final Fitting – The Big Reveal

    (About 2-3 Weeks Later)

This is the moment! Your dress is complete, and you’re seeing the finished product for the first time

    We’ll:

    • Make sure every detail is perfect
    • Do any tiny final tweaks
    • Add your bustle and show you how it works
    • Steam and prepare it for you to take home

You’ll leave with: Your one-of-a-kind wedding gown, ready for your big day!

Custom Wedding Dress Styles I Love Creating

Custom Wedding Dress Styles I Love Creating

    Classic Elegance

Clean lines, timeless silhouettes, luxurious fabrics. Think Grace Kelly or Meghan Markle – sophisticated and refined without being overdone.

    Romantic & Ethereal

Flowing fabrics, delicate lace, soft layers. Dresses that feel dreamy and feminine with vintage-inspired details.

    Modern Minimalist

Sleek, architectural, statement-making. Simple but striking, with interesting necklines, dramatic backs, or unexpected details.

    Bohemian & Free-Spirited

Relaxed silhouettes, beautiful textures, nature-inspired elements. Perfect for outdoor, casual, or destination weddings.

    Vintage-Inspired

Art Deco beading, 1950s tea-length, Victorian lace – I can recreate any era or blend vintage elements with modern design.

    Bold & Dramatic

Not afraid to make a statement? Let’s talk dramatic sleeves, colorful accents, unique fabrics, or non-traditional designs.

The truth is: I don’t have a “house style.” YOUR style becomes my style for your dress. That’s the beauty of custom.

Full Length Black Prom Dress by Myline's Bridal in Greensboro, NC

Special Custom Requests I’ve Brought to Life

“Can you recreate this $10,000 designer dress for less?”

Yes! I can capture the essence and key design elements of expensive designer gowns at a fraction of the cost. It won’t be identical (that would be copyright infringement), but I can create something inspired by it that’s just as beautiful.

“I want to incorporate my mother’s/grandmother’s wedding dress”

This is one of my favorite things to do! We can:

    • Use the lace as appliqués on a new gown
    • Incorporate the fabric into a modern design
    • Use special buttons, beading, or trim
    • Create a completely new dress that honors the original

I’ve helped daughters, granddaughters, and even great-granddaughters wear pieces of family history in a way that feels current and authentically theirs.

“I have specific body concerns and nothing off-the-rack works”

This is EXACTLY why custom exists! I’ve created dresses for:

    • Plus-size brides who want structure and support without feeling constricted
    • Petite brides who are tired of everything being too long
    • Tall brides who can never find dresses with enough length
    • Brides with unique proportions that make standard sizing impossible
    • Brides who’ve had mastectomies, asymmetry, or other concerns

I approach every body with respect, skill, and a genuine desire to make you feel gorgeous.

Investment : What Custom Wedding Dresses Cost

    $2,000 – $4,500 for most custom gowns

I know that’s a range! Here’s what affects the price:

    Less expensive ($2,000-$3,000):

    • Simpler silhouettes (A-line, sheath)
    • Single-layer fabrics
    • Colorful embroidery or beading
    • Minimal or no beading
    • Less intricate lace work
    • Shorter trains

    Mid-range ($3,000-$3,500):

    • More complex construction (fitted bodices, structured ball gowns)
    • Multiple fabric layers
    • Moderate beading or lace appliqués
    • Medium-length trains
    • Special details like illusion necklines

    Higher investment ($3,500-$4,500+):

    • Heavily beaded or embellished gowns
    • Intricate lace work throughout
    • Complex construction (corset backs, dramatic sleeves)
    • Long cathedral trains
    • Rare or expensive fabrics

    What’s ALWAYS included:

    • Initial consultation
    • Design sketches
    • All fittings (typically 3-4)
    • Muslin mock-up

    • My expertise and 20+ years of experience

    What’s NOT included:

    • Major design changes after we’ve finalized (small tweaks are fine!)
    • Significant weight changes requiring reconstructionMinimal or no beading

    Payment schedule:

    • 50% deposit when we finalize design and order materials
    • 25% at your second fitting
    • 25% at final fitting when you take the dress homeMinimal or no beadingLess intricate lace work

Timeline: How Long Does a Custom Dress Take?

Timeline: How Long Does a Custom Dress Take?

    Minimum 4 months – Ideal 5-6 months

    Here’s the realistic breakdown:

    • Consultation to finalized design: 1-2 weeks
    • Ordering materials: 2-3 weeks (some fabrics/lace come from overseas)
    • Creating mock-up: 2-3 weeks
    • Time between mock-up and first real fitting: 4-6 weeks
    • Time for adjustments and final details: 3-4 weeks

    Can you do it faster?

Sometimes! If we have the materials in stock and my schedule allows, I’ve done custom dresses in 8-10 weeks. But this is the exception, not the rule. Rush fees apply.

What if my wedding is in a year?

Perfect! Book your consultation 7-8 months before the wedding. This gives us plenty of breathing room for the creative process without feeling rushed.

Pro tip: Don’t book your consultation TOO early (like 18 months out). Bodies change, styles evolve, and you might fall in love with something completely different six months later.

Custom vs. Buying Off-the-Rack : The Honest Truth

Look, I’ll be real with you – custom isn’t for everyone. Here’s how to know if it’s right for you:

    • Can’t find anything off-the-rack that feels like “you”
    • Have a specific vision in mind
    • Want something truly unique
    • Have body proportions that make standard sizing difficult
    • Value the experience and want something special
    • Have at least 4-6 months before your wedding
    • Want to incorporate family heirlooms or special elements

Off-the-rack might be better if you:

    • Found a dress you absolutely love that just needs alterations
    • Have a very short timeline (under 3 months)
    • Prefer trying on finished dresses to visualizing sketches
    • Are working with a tight budget (under $2,000 for dress + alterations)
    • Feel overwhelmed by too many choices

The good news? I do BOTH! So whatever path is right for you, I can help.

Questions Brides Ask About Custom Dresses

Q: What if I don’t really know what I want?

That’s totally normal! About half my brides come in saying “I have no idea, I just know nothing I’ve tried on feels right.” That’s what the consultation is for. I’ll ask you questions, show you examples, and help you discover your style. We’ll figure it out together.

Q: What if I hate it halfway through?

Hasn’t happened yet! Because of the mock-up fitting, you’ll see and approve the design before I cut your real fabric. If something feels off, we adjust it then. By the time we’re working with your actual gown, you’ve already seen it and loved it

Q: Can I bring my mom/sister/maid of honor to appointments?

Of course! Bring whoever makes you feel supported. Just keep in mind: too many opinions can be overwhelming. I recommend 1-2 trusted people max.

Q: What if I lose or gain weight during the process?

Small changes (5-10 pounds) are no problem – that’s what the multiple fittings are for. Significant changes might require some reconstruction, which could involve additional costs. Try to stabilize your weight before your mock-up fitting if possible.

Q: Do you have dresses I can try on to see your work?

I have a few sample pieces and can show you photos of previous work, but custom means we’re creating YOUR dress – not selecting from existing options. That said, I can show you fabric samples, construction techniques, and finished gowns from past brides.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel or postpone?

Life happens! If you need to postpone your wedding, we’ll work with you to adjust the timeline. Deposits are non-refundable (I’ve already ordered materials), but we’ll figure something out. Communication is key.

Q: Can you match my bridesmaids’ dresses?

Yes! I can create bridesmaid dresses that coordinate with your gown, or I can design your dress to complement dresses they’re buying elsewhere.

A Personal Note About Custom Wedding Dresses

After 20 years of creating custom wedding gowns, I can tell you this: there’s nothing quite like the experience of designing something from scratch with a bride.

When you buy off-the-rack, you’re choosing from what someone else imagined. When we create custom, you’re bringing YOUR imagination to life. Your personality, your style, your body, your story – it all goes into the dress.

I’ve worked with shy brides who surprised themselves with how much they loved dramatic sleeves. Brides who thought they wanted ballgowns but fell in love with sleek, simple designs. Brides who incorporated their grandmother’s lace and cried when they saw it transformed into something new and beautiful.

Every custom dress tells a story. What story do you want to tell?

I’d be honored to help you create it.

    With excitement for your vision,
